Van Dyke, 37, is the first Chicago police officer charged with murder over an on-duty exercise of lethal force in decades. The new footage also doesn’t provide any additional visual details, and doesn’t show the actual shooting.

“And if people peel away the onion on what’s happening right now in the policing world, you’re going to find a police department that’s doing an exceptional job”. Police Chief Garry McCarthy asked protesters to respond peacefully.
