Why Salman Khan is not happy after his court relief
The Bombay High Court acquited Salman Khan of all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case, on Wednesday and the actor’s father Salim Khan is “happy and relieved” with the court’s decision.
The judges said in their ruling, which was read over several days, that prosecutors had failed to prove charges of culpable homicide, in which they accused Khan of driving while intoxicated in 2002 and running over five men sleeping on a sidewalk in Mumbai, killing one of them. “I’m surprised how people have begun casting aspersions on the integrity of India’s judicial system now but were fine on 6 May, 2015”. There was also a noting on the bill in writing saying Salman had footed it, leading the court to conclude it was fabricated. “Salman is acquitted of all charges”. He has spent over Rs 20-25 crores (on the case).
He said, ” I’ve been advised by my legal team not to comment more as there are already enough controversies surrounding Salman Khan getting clean chit from the court.
While Bollywood stars and Khan’s fans welcomed his acquittal, many others questioned the judgement. Salman Khan, additionally took to his Twitter record to thank everybody who upheld him. “May be some day, I would like to sit with you and speak my heart out”.
Delivering the verdict, Justice A R Joshi said the actor “cannot be convicted” on the basis of the evidence produced by the prosecution in the 13-year-old case and trial.
