Why the Broncos Have No Hope Without Peyton Manning
Which all brought Kubiak to Thursday, when he first told Manning and Brock Osweiler, followed by the team, that Manning was ready to start the Broncos’ Jan. 17 playoff opener.
The Broncos went 7-2 with Manning as their starter and 5-2 under Osweiler, including Sunday’s win over the Chargers.
The team made the decision official on Thursday, opting for the veteran Manning, over Brock Osweiler, who started most of the games in the second half of the season. Brady went on to post an 11-3 record as the starter.
“I won’t say anything, ” Kubiak said on Monday.
Manziel was in the NFL’s concussion protocol last week after the team said he got hurt in a December 27 game. He knows exactly what we think of him. I’m very proud of him. As they are approaching the playoffs they were not sure if Peyton Manning would be able to take on their first postseason game, but there could be some good news heading their way.
Peterson had to leave last Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers because of the injury but was able to return late in the game.
Manning has been known to struggle in the playoffs.
A lucky ninth-grader in Utah will be going to the biggest football game of the year thanks to his spot-on impersonation of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning took over for Osweiler in the third quarter of Week 17 and the Broncos rallied for a win thanks in large part to 139 rushing yards and no turnovers once Manning took over.
“I’m just trying to get everybody as fresh as I can as possible as we head into next week”, coach Gary Kubiak said.
Manning was playing horribly, and hurt, and after a battering at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, was dropped in favor of Brock Osweiler.
Yet, given the punishing defensive units in this year’s playoff field, it’s fair to presume the Broncos will have Manning on a short leash and any signs of further injury will result in Osweiler trotting out in relief. Manziel did not come into the locker room to speak with the media.
It also forced the Broncos to put Manning in the pistol or shotgun on most snaps. Monachino will be charged with turning around an aging defense that has performed well below average in recent years and Pagano thinks his experience in Baltimore makes him the right man for the job. He had a 59.8 completion percentage, his lowest since his rookie season, and only threw nine touchdowns.
Manning ended up missing six weeks in result of his plantar tear, according to UPI.
