Wife divorces man for being too short
Size matters for one Saudi Arabian woman – who’s divorcing her husband because he’s too short.
She added that the shocking attitudes by strangers in public when they remarked how she was towering over her husband made her feel painfully uneasy and distressingly uncomfortable, Saudi daily Okaz reported.
Shaikh Mohammad Al Jirani, the head of the endowment department said the case was among the oddest they have ever dealt with.
The unnamed pair have been married for seven months, but are now heading for divorce as the woman claims she can no longer cope with being mocked for being taller than her partner, according to Gulf News.
On social media many have questioned why she agreed to marry the man in the first place if this was such an issue to her.
The couple have not been named and their exact dimensions are unknown. They were also more likely to marry less educated and younger women.
In contrast, almost half of the women – 48.9 per cent – wanted to date only men taller than they are.
‘Evolutionary psychology theory argues that ‘similarity is overwhelmingly the rule in human mating, ‘ said Michael Emerson, the Allyn and Gladys Cline Professor of Sociology and the study’s co-author.
