Wife of Thunder assistant dies
Tonight will be the last time for about a week that we can watch the Pelicans play, so enjoy it. But please keep Monty Williams and his family in your thoughts throughout the game, as they need our prayers now more than ever. “I really believe, just being around Russell, he gets a lot of joy from passing the ball, helping his teammates, getting those guys shots”.
Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson was also among the many Thunder and New Orleans players and coaches who lovingly recalled Ingrid Williams and broke down in tears at word of her death.
The Thunder released a statement on Wednesday night and sent their condolences to the Williams family. Williams is an assistant coach for OKC.
While the Thunder rode into the All-star break on top of their game, Davis said his team needs to do some hard soul searching during the time off.
Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t play on February 10, but they play at New Orleans on February 11. Monty and Ingrid Williams have five kids, between the ages of 5 and 17.
The family’s pastor, Dr. Mark Hitchcock of Faith Bible Church in Edmond prayed for the family.
Valderrama says that driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A moment of silence was observed before the Thunder’s 121-95 victory.
The statement continued: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible”.

Susannah Donaldson, 55, was driving south on S Western Avenue about 8 p.m. when her auto went left of center and hit a northbound sport utility vehicle head-on. Douglas became a fourth Pelican in double-digit scoring late in the fourth quarter (joining Holiday, Davis and Norris Cole) and totaled 10 points in 26 minutes.
Alvin Gentry, head coach of the Pelicans, also got choked up when talking to the media about the unfortunate accident. He helped guide New Orleans to the postseason twice and had a record of 173-221.
