Wii U and 3DS Versions of Terraria Will Hit in Early 2016
Rumours of a Wii U and 3DS release for the massively popular 2D sandbox have been circulating for a while thanks to a few online retailers posting the game early.
Terraria will see a Wii U and 3DS release early in 2016, according to developer 505 Games.
The box art is… well, it’s an accurate representation of the game.
Terraria lead developer Whitney Baird previously stated that Terraria would be making its way to Nintendo gamers, although no release date was given.
Both offer touch controls.
The 3DS version offers local WiFi play supporting up to four players. The 3DS version will feature local four player multiplayer while the Wii U version will allow eight players online and 4 players in local splitscreen.
When asked of the development for Terraria’s Nintendo versions would slow down development for other platforms, Deanzor explained, “3DS is a completely different team, so no”. But if you can make it to Germany on time, the Nintendo booth and Gamescom will feature a hands-on demonstration of Terraria for 3DS.
“We were expecting to grow the Terraria fanbase outside of hardcore players like yourselves and open it up to complete newbies”, said Deanzor, a representative for 505 Games, the studio behind Terraria’s console ports.
