WikiLeaks calls out Trump for not releasing tax returns
Likely adding to Trump’s distress was the visual contrast of photos circulating that showed Trump’s inaugural crowd versus President Obama’s first inaugural, which clearly show that Obama’s crowds were far larger – even though it was a frigid 20 degrees that day in 2009 and the temperature for Trump’s inaugural Friday was in the mid-40s.
In a tweet from official USA president’s Twitter account, Mr Trump tweeted: “A photo delivered yesterday that will be displayed in the upper/lower press hall. Even if I don’t always agree, I recognise the rights of people to express their views”, Trump said in a tweet.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Monday that starting later this week, his daily press briefings will include four “Skype” seats for reporters who are not in Washington, D.C.
On Monday, during the first official White House press briefing, Spicer retooled his original suggestion about audience size, telling reporters that he meant it was the largest crowd when combining the in-person and internet-based audiences.
Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus has stressed that the administration of Trump won’t stand by while the media tries to “de-legitimize” the president during an interview on “Fox News Sunday”. “Sean Spicer, our press secretary – gave alternative facts”, she said.
“The attractive thing about a bilateral agreement is that if any one of the true parties in the agreement decides at any time they want to get out of the agreement, or they’re not being treated fairly, they can renegotiate much easier”, he said.
“There are [times] when we believe something to be true, or we get something from an agency, or we act in haste because the information available wasn’t complete”, Spicer said.
“We want to have a healthy and open dialogue with the press corps. and the American people”, he followed.
He then reiterated the inauguration crowd was the biggest ever: “it’s unquestionable”. “So after reading – checking my Twitter feed, I shot Josh an email last night letting him know that he can rest easy that his title is secure for at least the next few days”, Spicer joked. He defended his Saturday’s remarks stating that he had also included the television and online viewers when he was referring to the crowd.
Spicer would not say whether he was ordered by Trump or other staffers to make Saturday’s statement, but explained some of the thinking that went into it. I think sometimes we can disagree with the facts.
The Park Service apologized Saturday, calling the retweets mistaken. Though the Whitehouse.gov page saw some potentially alarming changes the day Trump took his oath, the Washington Post notes that one feature remains very much alive: petitions.
