Will Cousins and Wall Reunite in NBA? ‘You Never Know’

Wizards’ point guard had a career-high 11 turnovers catapulting the team’s total turnover to 23 on the night. Cousins, fifth in the National Basketball Association in scoring (28.7) and 11th in rebounding (10.4), poured in 12 of his points in the fourth quarter, including the tying basket with 10.1 seconds left. The final score was 101-95.

Wall committed 11 of Washington’s 24 turnovers and was called for one of the team’s three first-half technical fouls. Wall went as far as to say that they have discussed it more than you might think. If ever, the arrival of Cousins to the Wizards could be a reunion of sorts between Wall and Boogie.

The Kings, largely led by Cousins at that point in the game, quickly pushed the margin to 20 points to open the fourth quarter. Cousins’ four consecutive 30-point games are the most consecutive 30-point games in Kings history since Chris Webber did it in 2001. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Cousins would join Washington.

Sacramento’s first six shots of overtime were jump shots going 0-for-6 followed by a pair of Cousins missed free throws.

Cousins tallied 37 points on the night. I’m glad to see that he found employment elsewhere in the league. “You have nights like this”. Gortat only had 10 points and seven rebounds as he was drawn to the perimeter regularly, but also got three blocked shots in the process.

Washington lost 112-110 to San Antonio on Saturday in part because the Spurs consistently worked their way to the free-throw line.

Like a bad rash, the frustration spread around the Wizards’ sideline and Coach Scott Brooks picked up the team’s third technical foul – his coming after Andrew Nicholson had clearly committed a hard foul against Sacramento’s Matt Barnes, wrapping an arm around Barnes’s shoulders to stop another fast break after a Washington turnover. The veteran point guard is adjusting to being a bench player again now that Darren Collison has returned to the starting lineup after serving his suspension.

Cousins confirmed this by saying that talk of the duo joining forces has “come up” during recent conversations with Wall, and he also suggested that he has spoken with Eric Bledsoe-who also played on that 2009-10 Kentucky team-about getting in on the action and reuniting with Cousins and Wall. Following a playoff run two seasons ago, the Washington Wizards took a step back previous year, going 41-41 and missing the postseason. The talented shooting guard made a decision to hit seven shots from beyond the three-point line. Sacramento heads to Philadelphia for a meeting Wednesday with the 76ers.
