Will ’emerging market’ iPhone electrify Apple?
Apple CEO Tim Cook (pictured above) also predicted that total company revenue would slide in the second quarter and conceded that
It’s possible Apple could team up with a major chip-maker like Broadcom or Qualcomm, both of which offer chips that support wireless charging technologies.
But unlike the wireless charging technology that’s already a part of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Apple’s tech might not require a special mat to charge its phones or tablets.
The iPhone was clearly a revolutionary device, but Apple has sometimes struggled to differentiate its iconic handset with high-end Android devices in recent years. Back in 2010, it filed a patent application describing a way of using an iMac as a hub for wirelessly recharging another device at a distance of up to 1 meter.
Though many of its competitors added some type of wireless charging to their smartphones, Apple never added the feature to its iPhone.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Apple is trying to set up a factory to rebuild and sell its refurbished iPhones coming from China, in the country. That poses a challenge because efficiency decreases with distance, so it takes longer to charge a battery.
With that in mind, feast your eyes on this article published by Bloomberg which claims that Apple is now developing a wireless charging iPhone which will be ready for 2017.
