Will ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Ultimately Damage The Mothership Series, ‘The
The new spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, manages to shake off a lot of its parent shows problems by traveling 2,218 miles west on Interstate 10 from Atlanta to Los Angeles and back in time several months to the very dawn of the zombie outbreak.
“Fear the Walking Dead” lurches onto AMC Sunday night as perhaps the most overhyped episode of “Scared Straight” ever.
The drama is being made to life by The Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Dave Erickson.
The outbreak this time will be in Los Angeles and will follow the story of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and her family who will meet up with more people in an effort to survive.
The series will be a nice filler for the lead up to season six of The Walking Dead which will return in October. It’s all about relationships, power dynamics, information holders, and prioritizing those you love most. “From a creative standpoint, I think we have enough story that we’ll be able to ride on for quite some time”.
Understandably, the network are keen to replicate their success, and so was born “Fear The Walking Dead“, a spin-off series.
The new series, which is a companion show to the worldwide hit The Walking Dead, premieres on AMC on Monday, August 31 at 9.00pm. The divorced Travis is also struggling to maintain a connection with his sulky son Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie). If they stumble on the same issues as TWD, we could see a quick spiral into cancelation.
Nick (Frank Dillane) is in search of Gloria and as he wanders room to room.
Strapped to a gurney, Nick is babbling about something he witnessed in an abandoned church frequented by him and his fellow junkies; he swears he saw a woman messily devouring dead bodies. But they will flesh out another important tale The Walking Dead left unexamined – what it was like when the dead first started rising up to eat the living.
Instead, the zombie crisis is perceived as just further evidence of the Great American Meltdown. How many zombie kills can we stomach before we burn out? “I have to ultimately lie and tell people in the community that I am a nurse so they can trust me…And I end up seeing things on a grander scale and discovering other things that the rest of the family doesn’t know about”.
Fans might go a little insane too – especially if they’re anxious this spinoff will, um, cannibalize the Walking Dead’s audience.
But, as Erickson noted, it comes with baggage as well – specifically the double-digit millions of “Walking Dead” fans.
Sometimes you just can’t wait for that zombie apocalypse. In Fear the Walking Dead’s first episode, some type of virus seems to be spreading, which later appear to be zombies. “Fear the Walking Dead” is a mid-apocalyptic tale where no one is equipped for the coming reality.
