Will Google release two phones this year?
A new report has surfaced online that sheds light on what we can expect from the two devices, which are said to be manufactured by LG and Huawei.
“Nexus devices will continue to receive major updates for at least two years and security patches for the longer of three years from initial availability or 18 months from last sale of the device via the Google Store”, wrote Ludwig on the official Android Blog.
According to the report, the 2015 Nexus 5 (second-generation) will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD P-OLED display, 1920 x 1080 resolution, Qualcomm, Inc.
The LG-produced Nexus will come with Android Pay installed and Google wants to use the South Korean company’s brand recognition in North America and Europe to help promote the payment system. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon 620 processor, 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, 64GM eMMC 5.1 storage, and a 3180 mAh battery.
The unit is reported to have a MediaTek T3188 wireless charging receiver and Marvell Avastar 88W8897 connectivity chipset (802.11ac Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2). On the back side will feature a 13Mp camera with OIS, dual-LED flash and laser autofocus, and the front camera will be 4MP Ultrapixel and will support a RGB-IR sensor and iris detection. The device will also reportedly feature a rear power button with integrated fingerprint sensor.
Indeed, while Google has had a Stagefright fix available for some time now, the number of devices actually patched is tiny, with device OEMs and networks yet to release the update to subscribers. It will be priced at around $300 to 400 (Approximately Rs 18,000 to Rs 24,000).
Lastly, the leak reveals that the upcoming Nexus 5 from Google and LG will feature an aluminum frame with chamfered edges, similar to the iPhone 5S, and a matte plastic back cover. @evleaks tweeted about Huawei Nexus 2015 to be in 5.7 inch QHD display. GizmoChina did not say much about the specs of this model but it did claim that the Huawei Nexus will have a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED screen, a 21-megapixel IMX230 sensor camera and wireless charging. Google Nexus 2015 handset is expected to launch along with the latest Android M. Moreover, it will either be built by LG or Huawei.
