Will Hillary Clinton’s GOP outreach alienate progressives?
With a little over two months remaining before the Presidential election, 2016 has already proven to be nothing short of an unpredictable political whirlwind.
“Those who have served and wear the uniform today deserve to have a commander in chief who is looking out for them rather than donors and corrupt bureaucrats”, said Matt Miller, director of Veterans for Trump. Clinton and Trump’s historic low scores raise uncertainties about voter turnout in the November election. “In fact, we are the indispensable nation. People all over the world look to us and follow our lead”.
Trump sought to correct course in Washington state on Tuesday, saying millions of black Americans “have succeeded greatly” in art, science, sports and other endeavors.
The Republican nominee himself will be in Detroit on Saturday.
“I’ve laid out the best I could, the specific plans and ideas that I want to pursue as your president because I have this old-fashioned idea”, Clinton said during a recent speech in Colorado. “It means that we recognize America’s unique and unparalleled ability to be a force for peace and progress, a champion for freedom and opportunity”.
Clinton’s midday address at the American Legion’s annual convention in Cincinnati Wednesday comes as Trump ponders a last-minute trip to Mexico in advance of a long-awaited speech on immigration. She will talk about her experience on the Senate Armed Services Committee and as secretary of state. “That is not how it works”.
Clinton last week released an ad mocking Trump’s attempts to reach those groups and showing headlines about a racial discrimination lawsuit the NY real estate mogul faced in the 1970s.
Clinton has been an infrequent presence on the campaign trail of late, spending much of her time raising money behind closed doors in fashionable locales such as the Hamptons.
The former secretary of state pledged on Wednesday that, as president, she would “never, ever disrespect Gold Star families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation or prisoners of war who endured so much in our name”.
Hillary Clinton plans to stress her support for American exceptionalism during a speech in the battleground state of OH, while arguing that Donald Trump has rejected the concept. “I know that there is an investigation but I know very little about it”, said Rosy Pastrana, executive assistant to the county’s election supervisor. “It’s not just about differences over policy”.
A campaign official said that another Republican national security expert would back Clinton.
