Will Smith on Jared Leto’s Joker: ‘I’ve Never Met Jared Leto’
Jared Leto‘s take on the Joker received mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, but comic book writer, Grant Morrison exclusively revealed to Comic Heroes magazine that he gave the actor a few tips when it came to playing the iconic villain. We worked together for 6 months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of “Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ We’ve never said ‘Hello” or ‘Good day.’ I’ve only ever spoken to him with me as Deadshot and him as The Joker. Even the live rats and dead pigs could be explained by a practical joke (albeit one that probably went too far), but it sounds like Leto is completely immersed in his role. I’ve never actually met Jared Leto. No, not a single word exchanged off camera.
Smith added, “I’m looking forward to meeting him”. If youve been keeping track of the latest updates on the film, this isnt that shocking. “I’m keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance”.
Listen to Smith’s comments, starting at 15:45, in the video below. If you have the time, watch Smith’s full chat on Beats 1 below.
Jared Leto really wants to rival Heath Ledger’s famous Joker, so much so that he refused to speak to his co-stars out of character.
Theyre going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out.
