Will stop move if people face trouble: Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been facing criticism from all the opposition parties, thanked Justice Thakur for his support and said that this would provide inspiration to millions of others. “Many things have to be sorted out. We are going to ask people their suggestions about this and after that it will be taken forward” said Arvind kejriwal while speaking at Hindustan Time leadership Summit in Delhi.
“Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will have even numbered vehicles on roads, and we don’t care about which cars belonged to whom”, Jain said.
He told the media that the Delhi government would also strengthen public transport from January 1 so as not to put motorists in difficulties.
The High Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) have repeatedly sought workable action plans to combat the menace of pollution in Delhi where the Air Quality Index, a measure of pollutants in the air, has hit risky levels in recent days.
With the government struggling to add new buses to its existing fleet of 4,500, a transport official said that it would take at least six-seven months to procure new buses.
The Delhi government’s decision will apply to some 95 lakh vehicles registered in the city and the lakhs more which enter the metropolis every day from neighbouring states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab. The chief minister said Euro 6 emission norms will be implemented in Delhi from 2017 as against Centre’s plan to make it mandatory from 2019.
In a radical step to curb alarming air pollution, Delhi Government today restricted plying of private vehicles bearing odd and even registration numbers to alternate days from January 1 in the national capital.
He said tenders will be floated very soon to procure vacuum cleaners from overseas as such machines are not available here. The chief minister said no truck will be allowed to enter Delhi before 11 in the night against existing 9 PM. He said it could be discontinued if people faced problems. Maken further said, “He had said he won’t do politics, but made a political party and did politics. Some problems are political and some problems are constitutional”, he said.
“Governance is not rocket science. We can walk or even take a bus”, he was quoted by The Hindu newspaper saying. They are happy with our government. “This app will also be used to track down trash burning and polluting vehicles from now on”, said Kejriwal.
