Of course, just because the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are going to be much hotter than people assume doesn’t mean we’re happy Apple is recycling the same basic hardware design for another year.

The company was recently granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office that hints at its potential plans for waterproof or water-resistant gadgets. While the iPhone 6S has quite good water resistance capabilities, the new iPhone 7 is expected to be completely waterproof. Apparently Apple has been talking about including an iris scanner in one of its iPhones for some time now.
iPhone 7 beta testers have shared screenshots of a warning message that pops up when water is detected within the phone, directing iPhone owners to avoid connecting the device to a lightning cable. So we may have to wait until 2017 for Apple to finally catch up with its rivals and offer a more modern way to top up their batteries.
