Will the Redskins make the playoffs?
The NFC North title showdown between Green Bay and Detroit has been moved to Sunday night on New Year’s Day.
It’s a wager between old friends and the opposing teams of this weekend’s NFC North title game.
Smith said he had felt like he was on the verge of blocking a field goal for the past few weeks, and was finally able to deliver in the first half, keeping the Bears from matching scores with the Redskins.
If Washington wins, the only way Detroit and Green Bay could guarantee themselves playoff berths would be if they agreed to tie.
That raises the question: Why wouldn’t the Lions and Packers just conspire to tie, guaranteeing both of them a spot in the postseason? They have been brought back down to earth by NY and Dallas, but don’t assume that they are going to role over.
A loss to Green Bay coupled with a Washington victory over the New York Giants would eliminate the Lions from the playoff picture.
For Seattle to get the two seed back, they’ll need a win over the lowly San Francisco 49ers and a Falcons loss. This is intriguing because, really, the Giants have no reason to go gun-ho and win this game. Three NFC East Division team will be in the Playoffs if the Redskins defeats the Giants. He’s back in the NFL MVP conversation, although my guess is the Patriots’ Tom Brady wins it.
Before the season, I picked the Packers to beat the Steelers in Super Bowl LI.
Receiver Randall Cobb, who missed the Vikings’ game with an ankle injury, will be a part of the rehab group during Wednesday’s practice. There are two more that send the Redskins to the far west facing a No. 3 Seahawks team.
Tampa Bay remains alive in the hunt for the final NFC wild card spot by the skin of its teeth. Green Bay has gone 3-1 against the spread in the past four meetings.
With the Packers one win away from making Aaron Rodgers’ “run-the-table” comment prophetic, Sunday’s regular-season finale at Detroit could be viewed as an end game. Road games at NY and Dallas were among the most hard matchups the Lions had this season. Should Green Bay lose, I’m not sure about the Detroit-Atlanta tiebreakers, but I would assume that (with a Seattle win too) we would head to Atlanta. Stafford dislocated the middle finger on his throwing hand and also tore ligaments in that finger in a Week 14 comeback win over Chicago.
The Dallas Cowboys will be the No. 1 seed. The offensive line allowed four sacks. In others, like a loss in Detroit, the defense couldn’t finish the job.
The Redskins received more good news on Monday night when the Dallas Cowboys won a game.
Here’s why the National Football League switched the Green Bay-Detroit showdown to prime time: the loser could be staying home for the playoffs.
Rodgers has shredded secondaries with his arm, used his legs to avoid the rush and gain yards, and he’s been the master in big moments with the odds stacked heavily against him.
