A day after the Democratic Party announced that candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will debate on March 6th in Flint, FOX News Channel announced that it will host a Republican debate on Thursday, March 3rd in Detroit.

The two-hour debate airs 9-11 p.m. ET and comes two days after Super Tuesday.

Michigan’s primary is expected to be a significant contest this year, coming a week after more than a dozen states, majority in the South, vote March 1 and a week before Florida and OH vote in another big round of states March 15.

The RNC’s official debate schedule lists a March debate sponsored by Fox News.

Fox says it will announce criteria for who will be on the debate stage closer to the event.

The next Republican presidential debate is scheduled for Saturday night at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Fox’s August debate, the first of the cycle, set a record for the highest-rated non-sports cable broadcast of all time, with 24 million viewers, according to the network. Lastly, the qualified candidates must be placed among the top six in an average of national GOP presidential polls recognized by the ABC News.
