During last seasons, Big R noticed more confidence in spending, and consumers liked big-ticket items such as generators, compressors, chainsaws and power equipment.

Highlights: New deals on Thanksgiving include Fire TV Sticks for $24.99, and extra $15 off of Amazon’s already-discounted Fire Tablet. Holiday music is back on the playlists at brick-and-mortar stores, and holiday decorations are up.

Overall, the group expects a 3.7 percent increase to $630.5 billion though the growth is much higher than the 10-year average of 2.5 percent.

Many retailers have started their discounts early this year to leave customers more time to get the product they want and avoid fatigue.
