‘Will you miss your mom?’ American reporter accidentally makes boy cry before
We love how fearless he was trying to be, but we also feel his pain about having to leave a beloved parent for the first time. His reply was “yes”, but the next question really got him.
That is until reporter Courtney Friel started asking the hard-hitting questions. I remember being swarmed by a bunch of people I didn’t know, being led by some stranger to a seat that felt completely unfamiliar, while watching my beloved mother slowly recede into the distance.
All was going well for Andrew Maciais, 4, until one question hit a nerve, “Will you miss your mom?” The poor thing tries to giggle by acting fearless but realizes within seconds that he will actually miss mom and begins to cry. He paused a second and then began to tear up.
Four-year-old Andrew Macias was hanging tough outside the gates of Los Angeles Unified School District, in the city’s east, just before his first day of pre-kindergarten, but when KTLA 5 reporter Courtney Friel hit him up for a vox-pop, the little fella lost his game face. Andrew was among thousands of LAUSD students who filled classrooms Tuesday morning as summer vacation officially came to an end.
According to KTLA, Andrew’s mom gave him a hug off camera just seconds later.
