William Shatner creates portrait of Spock composed of Trekkie selfies
William Shatner has shared a lovely tribute to his Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy, composed of fan-submitted Vulcan salute pictures.
Shatner has put together a giant mosaic portrait of Nimoy, who passed away earlier this year, using “selfie” images of fans making the “live long and prosper” salute.

Kirk on the bridge of the USS Enterprise on Star Trek: The Original Series on February 16, 1967. A collection of Trekkie selfies with the iconic Vulcan salute were used to create a mosaic of Nimoy’s legendary character Mr. Spock, reported the Washington Post.
William Shatner, whose “rivalry” with Supernatural star Misha Collins has been an ongoing joke on social media, created the tribute to Leonard Nimoy as part of Collins’ G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S project. In the process, they have broken altruistic world records for most global hugs and most pledges to commit charitable Acts of Kindness, among others.
The mosaic has been submitted to the Guiness Book to be considered for a world record.
“He took the role of Spock very seriously and I would try and get him to crack a smile while in his persona”, Shatner said at the time.
