William Shatner to set sail on Star Trek cruise
Star Trek: The Cruise, a six day cruise launching January 9, 2017, will not only take Trek fans from Miami to Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay during its journey, but will also offer what organizers are calling a “totally immersive” event with none other than William Shatner acting, fittingly, as de-facto captain of the ship.
The company says this is the first official “Star Trek” cruise, which it licensed through CBS Consumer Products.
The Norwegian Pearl will play the part of the Starship Enterprise, which will welcome stars of the franchise such as Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, Denise Crosby and John de Lancie from “Star Trek: The Next Generation“, Robert Picardo from “Star Trek: Voyager” and James Darren from “Deep Space Nine“.
Speaking engagements from experts and scientists will also take place while screenings of the Star Trek movies will be shown on deck.
‘When I was told that this was the first authorised Star Trek cruise and part of the 50th anniversary celebration, I just knew that my participation would be something that our fans would enjoy. “It should be a lot of fun”. Comprising of Vaughn Armstrong, Steve Rankin and Casey Biggs, each of the band members has appeared in the Star Trek series.
The cruise slated for January 2017 will mark half a century since Gene Roddenberry’s “Star Trek” made its TV debut 1966. However, Shatner and the other Star Trek actors will be participating in various activities with their cruise ship guests throughout the voyage.
Boardgame fans will be able to try their hands at Star Trek chess and checkers as well as life-size versions of Catan and Risk.
If you want to boldly go where no man has gone before, the cruise is taking online reservations here.
