Williams shakes off rust, rolls ahead at Rogers Cup
Sabine Lisicki secured her place in the second round of the Rogers Cup with a comprehensive victory over Venus Williams.
Williams’ New York magazine profile opens up with a focus on the tennis star working on the HSN network hawking clothes and perhaps not that comfortable with the position she was placed in. The American tennis player who also smashed her racket, added, “I only said to myself to get ready to do anything to get into the match, and I did it. I thought, ‘The last time I played here, I won”.
“I didn’t think it would last this long”, she said. “I was making so many errors”, said Williams following the match in Toronto.

Right now, that means having her own collection – the Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection – and humble bragging about her trophies. With either Jelena Jankovic or Caroline Garcia in her opener and potentially current Stanford semi finalist, (13) Angelique Kerber further down the line, the odds of Halep going deep seem limited.
