Wilshere hoping to develop at Bournemouth
Roma have made a late bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan, according to Sky sources.
Wilshere has spent his entire professional career at Arsenal, save for a short loan spell in 2010 under then-Bolton boss Owen Coyle.
And, after his representatives held meetings with Palace and Bournemouth on Tuesday, Wilshere chose to head to the south coast in order to revive his career.
The England global also saw competition for places increase with the arrival of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, Wilshere used from the substitutes’ bench in the early rounds of the 2016-17 Premier League.
Wilshere was offered out for loan by Arsenal in the last few days of the transfer window, and Bournemouth are rumoured to have beaten more than 20 clubs to his signature.
Those are in addition to offers from overseas, with Sporting Lisbon and Benfica in Portugal said to be monitoring the situation.
Wilshere’s lack of first team football has also impacted his global career, and he didn’t make the cut for Sam Allardyce’s first squad since taking over from Roy Hodgson after EURO 2016.
A year is a long time.
Chelsea loaned Juan Cuadrado back to Juventus for three years, Gokhan Inler left Leicester for Besiktas, and Serge Gnabry departed Arsenal for Werder Bremen.
He has been limited to two substitute appearances this term after dropping behind Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla in Arsenal’s central midfield pecking order. “I think he’ll get a good run in the team”. We’re having a look at those as much as Jack.
“After the injury to Max Kruse we needed to make additions, and we are very pleased we have found a player with the quality to further improve our squad”.
You’ll recall that when he first came up he was really deemed the next big thing in English football. “The chairman and the board have done brilliantly to get the players we’ve got”.
