Wilshere makes loan switch to Bournemouth
Wilshere completed his season-long loan switch to the Vitality Stadium on transfer deadline day, with many pundits calling it a great deal for the player and both clubs involved.
Once regarded as one of the brightest young hopes in English football, Wilshere has slipped down the pecking order at Arsenal after being restricted by injury to 17 league games in the last two seasons.
Bournemouth is set to pay the whole of Wilshere’s £90,000 weekly wages, apart from a payment of £2m in loan fees to Arsenal.
“I’m delighted to have joined @officialafcb on a season long loan and would like to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome”, Wilshere posted on Instagram.
Wilshere had always been seen as one of Arsenal’s and England’s bright hopes for the future, but has fallen down the pecking order for club and country after an injury-hit few years.
The presence of Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, a former Arsenal team-mate and godfather to Wilshere’s child, may also have helped persuade him to move to the south-coast.
“We were contacted and asked, ‘would we be interested?’ We said yes and threw our hat in the ring but the player made a decision to go to Bournemouth, I think one of his best mates plays there”. Thanks for all your support.’ . “Jack is on his own in terms of profile and that is the type of player we can now attract. I’m obviously delighted he chose us ahead of a number of clubs”.
Since then, he has gone on to make another 33 appearances for the national team, although was not a part of Sam Allardyce’s first squad, which was announced on Sunday evening. He can definitely compliment the style of football and the way that we play and maybe add that missing piece of the jigsaw that we need.
However, the Dutchman thinks moving to Bournemouth is not the right step for Wilshere to take and warned that training with poorer quality players will have a big effect on the England worldwide.
