Wind warning ends for Toronto, GTA
Hold onto your hats, it’s about to get windy – really windy – in Halton.
A wind warning issued for Toronto and parts of the GTA on Friday morning has ended, Environment Canada said.
Strong winds with the potential to cause damage are expected throughout southern Ontario, with gusts reaching 100 km/h possible, the agency said.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur and loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury.
On Twitter, the OPP reported downed trees and hydro poles in parts of Bruce County, and Hydro One reported a few 60,000 customers were without power as of 10:30 a.m.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Motorists are also advised to use caution today, as the sudden strong and gusty winds and heavy showers could result in hard driving conditions.
