Windows 10 build 10565 goes live with Skype messaging, Cortana and activation
Microsoft will likely be rolling out a new Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build this week, according to Windows Insider head Gabriel Aul.
Microsoft released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build – No. 10565 – to PC testers on the Fast Ring on October 12.
As previously signalled by Microsoft, Skype functions will be available through the Messaging, Phone and Skype video universal apps in Windows 10.
Tab preview is new to the Microsoft Edge and this is rather self-explanatory.
Developers in the fast ring, who’ll be getting this build first, will also be looking at the new syncing feature in Microsoft Edge that lets you sync your Favorites and Reading list items. For those that are utilizing a touch enabled device, Cortana can also now register your inked notes and will now set reminders based on location, times and numbers.
The privacy statement from Microsoft for Windows 10 states that it will access, disclose and preserve the personal data and content from emails, private communications and folders of the users for reasons like complying to the law, protecting its users, maintaining security of its services and so on. Cortana will now keep track of your bookings for movies and ticketed events through your email confirmations and you’ll get an alert two hours before the start of the event.
Along with releasing those stats, Microsoft today also rolled out a fresh Windows 10 build – build 10565. For example, you’ll now be able to reply to a Skype message of an incoming call through the Action Center.
Uber will show you a preview of your journey time to your next appointment and Cortana can book it [MICROSOFT]. To that end, Microsoft has finally added the ability to use existing Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 product keys during the install of Windows 10, assuming they are valid for the free upgrade offer – which practically all are with the exception of Enterprise versions.
As is usually the case for me anyway, my test system is in the middle of updating while I’m writing this, so I haven’t been able to play with the new features yet. After this digital entitlement was created Windows 10 could be clean installed at no cost for the life of the device without ever having to reinstall the previous version of Windows.
There are also new icons for tile adjustments, which could really come in handy to determine which option is right for you when setting up the Start menu.
There are, of course, known issues with this build which Gabe writes about in his post.
