Windows 10 Insider option makes desktop and mobile testing less scary
Microsoft is desperate to improve its standing in the mobile space where its Windows 10 Mobile has come under some harsh criticism time and again.
As mentioned earlier, the new Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107 comes in to fix issues that the previous version came in with. The Release Preview ring will focus on Insiders that want to stay on the Current Branch (currently builds based off of 10586), but continue to receive early access to updates, application updates, and driver updates.
Microsoft has recently pushed Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107 to insiders enrolled in the slow ring, and now there’s hope that this could also be the version that the company might be releasing to Windows Phone devices in the coming days.
Microsoft has moved swiftly to add more features to the Azure Stack cloud platform, providing enterprise customers with early previews of platform-as-a-service and DevOps tools that can be deployed onto it to deliver Azure-like services from their own data centre.
Microsoft has made a decision to give more information about the updates it releases for Windows 10 by introducing a dedicated update history page on its site, where you can check all the major changes that the software giant includes.
Certainly, these need to be quite detailed, especially when there are more than just bug fixes, but for the moment, Redmond doesn’t seem to be willing to change this approach over app updates. If the former, then it means that users with Ativ SE’s can now get Windows 10 via Windows update, albeit without the safety blanket of a skip back to 8.1 if things go south. The Slow Ring takes a more conservative approach, with “less risk” to devices.
Similarly, the Production Ring ensures Windows 10 Mobile users have access to the latest firmware and OS updates for their device though the availability could be dependent on the region and carriers.
Meanwhile, with so much activity going on behind the scenes from the consumer point of view, it could be just days for Windows 10 Mobile users to be served the latest update which hopefully leads to a better user experience with their Windows phones.
