Windows 10 introduces holographic apps for all, coming 2017
While the update is rolling out now to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring, other Groove users on Windows 10 should expect to see these improvements make their way to the app in the coming weeks. This update will combine all the security patches and bundle them together for a single release but unlike the monthly roll-up, the security-only update will only include patches for that month. Every rollup will contain the patches and fixes for the previous month, as well as a lite delivery package that only downloads the latest updates, if those are the only ones that are required to be installed. At the time, Microsoft said it is planning to pack all the patches post Service Pack 1 into one rollup. The software giant will release one cumulative update each month. When users find out about issues after the update is already applied, they will also have to deinstall the entire Monthly Rollup which again might also remove fixes for critical vulnerabilities.
“The new rollup model gives you fewer updates to manage, greater predictability and higher quality updates”.
To check for the update, users should open up the Settings app, then navigate through Update & Security Phone update Check for update.
Microsoft also is planning to improve the Microsoft Update Catalog by removing its current requirements to use ActiveX and the Internet Explorer browser to access content.
Today’s announced “Monthly Rollup” follows the earlier announced ‘Convenience Update’ which Microsoft announced earlier this year. Should a user go for a from-the-bottom installation, the number could rank to hundreds of individual patches. Moreover, organizations won’t be able to get security patches individually as “individual patches will no longer be available”, Microsoft’s announcement indicated.
Framework updates won’t automatically update the version of the framework that’s installed, Microsoft indicated.
