Winnebago County Absentee Ballots Remain Available for City Elections

About 800 other voters had requested absentee ballots but had not returned them by Wednesday, according to Joe Debney, director of the Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration.

Early voting continues Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct, 31, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. She added, “As slow as it has been during early voting, we are not going to have any paper ballots on election day”.

South Carolina doesn’t have early voting per se, but the state allows voters to cast early, absentee ballots for one of many reasons.

“It’s been light, and I’m kind of surprised”, he said.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Lee County Elections Office had received over 8,500 mail ballots from the precincts in the Cape. But factors that include the weather on Election Day and voter interest in the candidates and issues could have an impact on actual voter turnout. In Cuyahoga there are now just over 77,000 ballot requests.

Voters simply fill out the ballot and drop it in the mail; no return postage is necessary.

Now that paper ballots have replaced the old touch-screen machines, voters will be able to mark their ballots in partitioned voting booths.
