Winning $1M Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Maryland
Millions of tickets were bought in anticipation of the Mega Millions draw by just as many lottery hopefuls. No one has matched the all five numbers and the Powerball since May 6, when the Smith family of Trenton won a jackpot with an annuity value of $429 million. The past winners won on January 8th and March 8th.
The nation was obsessed with lottery fever before the Mega Millions jackpot drawing on Friday night.
Maryland lottery officials say someone purchased a $1-million Mega Millions ticket in Prince George’s County.
The Mega Millions jackpot had reached its third-highest level in history before the July 8 drawing. The mega ball was 5. The winning numbers for the July 8, 2016 drawing are: 8-19-20-55-73.
The locations of the retailers that sold New Jersey’s lucky tickets should be known later Monday.
Both games are played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Both games have almost identical rules, but Powerball tickets are slightly more expensive.
A day later, a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at 99 Cent Treasures on the 100 block of 48th Street in Union City. This is the longest Mega Millions run without a victor.
It’s the seventh biggest prize in US lottery history, surpassing an August 2013 Powerball prize of $448.4 million.
