Winter snow watch for Monday through Tuesday
The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert for Monday at 11 p.m.to help prepare for Tuesday’s storm. “If we get as much snow as Dan expects the plows will need a wide berth”, Williams said.

Partly sunny skies will start the new week on Monday, with a high near 31. The potential blizzard, the warning says, could bury coastal communities under heavy snow and batter Boston with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. This is not the case with this storm, therefore we should have only one high tide cycle with the brunt of the wind coming in from the ocean.
The coastal storm is expected to move in around 12 a.m. Tuesday, with snow continuing throughout the day and into early Wednesday.
For the first time since the end of January, significant snow is expected across the entire FOX 17 viewing area. Wind chill values as low as minus 8. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. The NWS projects more than 6 inches of snow will fall on Tuesday, though the agency suggested on Twitter the totals could reach 12 to 18 inches.
DSNY will continue to monitor forecasts and will provide updates as the snow event approaches. Cloudy, with a high near 31. The low will be around 16.
There is also still a small chance that the track could be farther south and east and only fringe our area with a plowable but much more manageable snow.
Expected maximum wind gusts forecast shows 40mph+ gusts possible right along the coast especially along Central NJ coast and Long Island.
