NWS’s Morristown weather field office issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Cumberland Plateau, including Scott, Campbell and Morgan counties, for up to two inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible.
Moderate to locally heavy snowfall will impact eastern New England on Monday, along with strong winds gusting to 45 miles per hour.
More snow is headed for the Midcoast, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory to be in effect from Monday at 6 a.m.to Tuesday at noon. The second, an Arctic front moving through the Ohio Valley, will arrive in the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington and Philadelphia, later on Monday, bringing 2 to 4 inches.
The areas affected include a large portion of Rhode Island and eastern MA, including the Providence, Worcester, and Greater Boston areas.
Snow showers and snow squalls could be heavy at times Monday night and Tuesday.
The high winds will also pose a low risk of downed tree limbs and isolated power outages.
Overall, forecasters said, precipitation will be light, leading to the lower forecast snow totals.
