Winter storm sends temperatures plummeting in Arizona
The snow tapered off Tuesday afternoon as the storm moved northeast, leaving behind drifts up to four feet high. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
Arrivals and departures at Salt Lake International Airport were on time, with snow removal and aircraft de-icing crews staying apace of the weather; no new outages were reported by Rocky Mountain Power; and while the region’s school districts warned that buses could be delayed by road conditions and some schools were starting an hour or two later, no public school closures were reported on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of the state from 8 pm on Sunday until 5 am on Tuesday.
“It’s going to be western Nebraska’s turn next”, National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Dankers said.
A wintry blast that dropped a foot of snow in parts of Wyoming and Montana has closed schools and roads.
National Weather Service figures show Bountiful led the way for snow accumulation in the Salt Lake Valley, totaling 28 inches.
We’ll see snow overnight, transitioning to a mix early Sunday, with a switch back to snow for late Sunday through Monday.
Kids at schools in Denver and Colorado Springs and surrounding areas are getting a snow day.
As much as 16 inches of snow was expected by Tuesday in parts of Utah. UDOT has not been able to do any pre-treatments for roads Sunday night because it is expected rain will precede the snow, and the rain would wash away any pre-treatments they put down.
Elsewhere, rain and snow pushed into New England after an unseasonably warm and dry weekend.
Much of the West Coast was dry with below-average temperatures.
Tuesday night into Wednesday, low pressure strengthens and heads toward the Upper Midwest, wrapping snow around its circulation in the northern Plains, Upper Mississippi Valley and northern Great Lakes.
