Winter storm with accumulating snow Friday night into Saturday
More than 100 inches of snow fell in New Hampshire last winter, but according to WMUR meteorologist Hayley LaPoint, it looks like it won’t be as severe this year. By 8 a.m. Saturday, wet snow, mixed with rain, will have spread into southeastern Lower MI, including Lansing, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Bay City and Midland.
A early winter storm system takes aim on southern Wisconsin, Iowa, and northern IL, producing several inches of snow.
Saturday will see snow before noon with the temperature falling to around 22 degrees by 5 p.m. It will be a blustery day with a north wind of 15 to 20 miles per hour becoming west in the afternoon. He said this involves placing notifications on cars parked along snow routes stating that when there is snow of more than two inches cars will be prohibited from parking on those routes.
Southern Wisconsin, including Dane County, is under a winter storm watch from Friday night into Saturday. The first snow always gives a handsome visual scene as it blankets itself on trees and on the ground.
In Denver worldwide Airport in Colorado is one of the busiest airport hubs where more than 100 flights were cancelled, passengers were advised to spare more time to get through airport security.
After the primary storm passes, bands of heavy lake-effect snow will set up downwind of the Great Lakes in parts of MI, Ohio, Pennsylvania and NY, according to AccuWeather.
FOX 29’s Weather Authority expects a mild December and January with the coldest air of the season not arriving in earnest until February. Their average date of the season’s first 1 inch-plus snow is December 7. A few sunshine could help melt any snow left on roads.
“We try to be out there right at the onset of the storm”, Markison said.
