Winter weather advisory: 2-4 inches of snow expected Tuesday
Snow showers are likely to occur all morning.
The snow is expected to fall after 3 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
“That will help a little bit to prevent the snow from sticking when it begins to fall overnight”, said Jennifer McCord, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The forecast says snow will develop this afternoon from west to east, with a brief period of heavy snow possible late this afternoon and evening affecting the evening commute.
While the NWS is issuing winter weather advisories for counties north, Racine County will not have an advisory for now. While the weather will be significant, the word advisory implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated.
Even if precipitation stays all snow, the bulk of the accumulation will end during the morning, as temperatures look to be above freezing in the afternoon.

Winds between 40 – 50 miles per hour with gusts up to 75 miles per hour. Areas west of Billings will see greater snow accumulations the next several days.
