Monday night, areas around Blue Ridge could see 4-5 inches or more of snow. Freezing rain causes ice on salt-free ground. The storm will end with some flurries or brief snow showers Tuesday evening after sunset. “We’ll see temperatures in the mid-30s on Tuesday”.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Bitterly cold.
Stay with News 12 for the latest forecast information. Colder areas to the west and northwest will see freezing rain transitioning to plain rain as temperatures rise above freezing. The snow will start off very light and spotty.
The freezing line will then expand into northern Gwinnett, North Fulton, Cherokee, Forsyth, Jackson and Hall counties, seeing mainly freezing rain around 7 a.m. Precipitation will turn to rain Tuesday.

Travel in the Louisville area will likely be most hampered Sunday evening and Sunday night but travel problems could persist into early Monday. “1 to 2” of rain is possible from Monday afternoon into Tuesday. In fact, the majority of models now suggest a fast moving clipper moves in late Tuesday night and could bring a light accumulation through the morning commute on Wednesday.
This is a hard storm to predict because temperatures will hover near freezing for much of the two days, and even a couple degrees could mean the difference between snow and rain.
The wintry precipitation in Arkansas is on the edge of a strong storm system that is expected to drop more snow on the Ohio Valley, the Appalachians and farther east Sunday and Monday.
