Winter weather advisory in effect tonight
Temperatures will be about 30 degrees early Friday, rising slowly through the 30s into the early afternoon.
The National Weather Service forecasting station in Morristown has placed the region under a winter weather advisory through 4 p.m. They say scattered snow showers could persist into Friday night across the higher elevations.
11 Insta-Weather PLUS meteorologist Tony Pann said an arctic front that moves through Maryland will kick up a band of snow showers that could coat the ground with an inch or so of snow accumulation.
A wintry mix of freezing rain and snow is expected to cause problems for drivers in northeast Montana.
The advisory for coastal Pender, New Hanover, Brunswick counties is up until 1 p.m. Friday.

The bitter cold won’t stick around long, but a winter storm on its heels could be a “potential big mess [Monday through Tuesday] with heavy precipitation amounts”, the weather service said in its morning forecasters’ discussion. Areas to the south are dealing with a mixture of cold rain, sleet and freezing rain.
Students in Scott County are set to go back to class on Friday for the first time since Monday, with schools operating on a two-hour snow delay.
