Winter Weather Advisory issued for the Ozarks into Thursday
The winter weather advisory is still set to go into effect at 3 a.m. Wednesday for parts of north Alabama and continue until noon because of the threat of a wintry weather mix. Travel issues should be minimal or none the closer you get to the MS/TN state line. There is the potential we could see a brief period of mixed precipitation that could cause some road troubles early Friday morning mainly along and west of highway 17 and north of hwy 70. Slick spots are possible in these areas through 6 AM but temperatures will quickly go above after sunrise melting anything that sticks.
The morning is going to start with light rain and drizzle; and it will also be windy.
Total accumulations of one to two inches of snow are likely by midnight, and some hazardous travel is to be expected – especially on bridges. The snow and sleet will turn to rain Thursday afternoon.
Another system expected to move into the area on Thursday could bring rain that changes to snow Friday and into Saturday morning. Rain becomes heavier overnight with a few storms possible to the southeast of Memphis.
Lows tonight will be cold, ~ 33°. The weekend looks dry and chilly with some sun and highs in the 30s and 40s.
