Winter Weather Advisory Monday Night and Tuesday
The National Weather Service predicts a mix of snow and sleet starting Monday evening, possibly turning into freezing rain on Tuesday morning before temperatures rise. The freezing rain will become rain by mid-morning in most areas, but could persist into the afternoon in higher terrain. The low should edge down to around 29 and winds should ease slightly to 10 to 20 miles per hour out of the northeast after midnight.
Tuesday Night: Rain likely before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.
Accumulations of sleet and snow could reach 1 inch by Monday night, the weather service said.
Overnight rain is expected to taper off Sunday morning, giving way to an overcast day and a drop of temperatures nto the 30s on Sunday afternoon.
Both advisories are in effect for the entire region, including LaPorte, St. Joseph, LaGrange and Steuben counties in IN, and Cass, St. Joseph and Berrien counties in MI. New Year’s Day is likely to be partly sunny.
Olson expects the storm to end Tuesday with a little spotty light snow mixed with freezing drizzle, a few snow showers on Wednesday, and then quiet weather into early next week.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a chance of rain. Between 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in the mid-Hudson Valley.
