Wisconsin mayor apologizes for calling Obama a Muslim
“The anger, pain and extremely foul comments are duly noted, as are the substantial numbers of positive messages received”, Hagen wrote.
The controversial comments drew global attention. “She and her Muslim partner have destroyed the fabric of democracy”.
The mayor of a northern Wisconsin city is apologizing for his Facebook comments calling President Barack Obama a Muslim.
About one dozen demonstrators showed up at City Hall Monday, where Justice City Coalition organizer Kym Young accused Hagen of leaving during a controversy he created.
Protesters are calling for a no-confidence vote in Hagen’s leadership from the city council in Superior. But Hagen has said he will not resign.
Several city councilors are also expected to attend the event. He said he hopes the event will “get rid of any confusion and misunderstanding”.
Hagen tells WDIO-TV (http://bit.ly/1krmc3V) that he is cutting short his holiday vacation and flying back for a community meal planned Saturday by the Islamic Center of the Twin Ports.
“I’m looking forward to some dialogue and friendly conversation and to see what the personal dialogue will entail with people there”, said Hagen.
