Wisconsin recount effort sparks fraud allegations from Trump
It adopted the recount plans unanimously.
Stein pushed her Pennsylvania efforts Monday, posting on her website that the Green Party is seeking at least three voters in each district to submit an affidavit to their county board of elections seeking a recount. Green Party candidate Jill Stein trailed them significantly.
In New Hampshire, the AP’s vote totals were reported directly to the news agency by town clerks and were verified by AP in most towns before the count was completed.
Some provisional ballots were not counted because the voters were not properly registered, but Suchanic said that is typical.
Discord has flared in the Trump camp over the pick for secretary of state, the most prestigious job in the cabinet – in particular over the candidacy of Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. The Department of State said many counties already certified their election results previously, which closes the recount window.
As of Monday morning, a small fraction of the more than 9,000 election districts in Pennsylvania had begun a recount petition process that was being described as a hard undertaking given its detailed requirements and short deadlines. She says that would be considerably faster than counting everything by hand.
“We will work longer hours and either find more space or more people or bring more people into my office”, Christensen said, “We will make it work”.
A small number of votes in Wisconsin are cast on touch-screen machines. “It will also set a precedent for routinely examining paper ballots, which will provide an important deterrent against cyber attacks on future elections”. Stein’s recount push came after a group of computer science experts said they detected statistical anomalies in voting patterns in those states that possibly benefited Trump. Unlike Wisconsin and MI, the requests have to be filed on a precinct-by-precinct level with at least three voters in each delivering notarised affidavits to their local election clerk. Stein’s supporters started doing that Monday, but it would take thousands of voters to get them going in all of Pennsylvania’s precincts.
Voting machines are programmed at the county level, either by county clerks or by the machine vendor.
On Monday the Green Party began the recount process for Pennsylvania. Currently, the recount in all 72 counties is expected to begin on Thursday.
The deadline for counties to report their recounted vote totals is 8 p.m. December 12.
The Clinton campaign broke its silence on the issue Sunday when the campaign’s general counsel Marc Elias wrote on Medium that the campaign had not found any evidence supporting Stein’s claims but will participate in the recount.
Trump recently back-pedaled on his campaign promise to prosecute Clinton over the use of a private email server.
Trump is the first Republican presidential nominee to win MI since 1988. And even then, in order for Clinton to actually win the White House, election results would have to be reversed in all three states.
