Wisler, Braves stall Mets’ push toward NL East title

Next up, the Mets will send out Logan Verrett in a spot start for Jacob deGrom who is getting the night off due to an innings restriction. Mets GM Sandy Alderson has repeatedly said he would not discuss an extension for Collins until after the season. Overall this season, Verrett is 1-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 16 games (three starts) between the Mets and Texas Rangers.
Olivera’s tiebreaking homer came after an intentional walk to Nick Markakis with two outs.
Daniel Murphy followed Wright with a double in the first, and hit another in the sixth to pass Ed Kranepool for second on the Mets’ all-time list with 226. Really played good defense, and just couldn’t get a win tonight. Something good might actually happen.
The two-homer game was the first for the Braves since September 7, and the two-homer inning their first since August 26.
