With a new plane, Clinton courts media on the campaign trail
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday accused the Clinton foundation of failing to live up to promises it made to help redevelop Haiti after the massive 2010 quake devastated the country. And they followed a round of polls for Clinton suggesting that the national advantage she has held for much of the summer has diminished slightly. As Katie found out recently, Bernie also works for Bill and Hillary Clinton at their nearby mansion.
On Tuesday night, as Clinton traveled from Florida to suburban NY, reporters tried to invite her into another pastime of the campaign plane: rolling an orange down the aisle with a question written on it.
Both ads end with an FEC-mandated vocal stamp of approval from the candidate. “Clinton Foundation donors have seen the Clintons pave the way for their investments”. And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. A coalition associated with the senator is reportedly putting pressure on the Democratic nominee’s transition team to hire individuals who will help promote a progressive policy agenda from inside the Clinton administration, Politico reports-a requirement that could potentially exclude plenty of longtime Clinton allies.
Trump said in an interview with ABC News that Clinton lacks a presidential look, “and you need a presidential look”.
“I think that is yet another strong piece of evidence of why he should never be anywhere near the White House”, she said, calling foreign travel logistics sometimes “annoying” and “difficult”.
Paul Waldman wonders why Hillary Clinton’s not getting a fair shake from the media in an article titled, “Trump’s history of corruption is mind-boggling”.
He added that unlike Trump’s own charitable foundation, the Clinton Foundation “actually (says) who gives us money and what we spend it on”. At the time, Bondi was debating whether to investigate the now defunct Trump University.
The State Department’s ethics office approved Bill Clinton’s contract with Laureate, finding “no conflict of interest” with the for-profit college, according to a letter released by conservative group Citizens United. Bondi ultimately decided not to open an investigation, prompting scrutiny from critics and local media at the time.
But the IRS fined Trump’s nonprofit $2,500 for violating rules that prohibit charities from making political contributions.
