With jab at Ryan, Trump ignites new tensions in GOP
“I don’t believe that many Republicans will take their marching orders from President Obama on Donald Trump or any other matter”.
With their respective national party conventions in the rearview mirror, both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are showering attention on the western battleground state of Colorado. As of Tuesday, Clinton has slid ahead by four points, although there is a 2-point margin of error in most polls, which means the two candidates are essentially still running even.
Hillary Clinton has made history by accepting the Democratic Party nomination as its candidate to contest the United States presidential election later this year.
ME is the only other state to split its electoral votes. And Clinton has poured campaign resources into the state, opening 14 campaign offices, including three in the last week, hoping to keep Colorado in the Democratic column. The campaign said she raised more than $8.7 million in the 24 hours around her speech.
Ms Clinton was given a front-row seat at Mr Trump’s 2005 wedding to Melania Knauss, and was a major donor to her Senate campaigns and first presidential bid.
He also said that after Trump listed his casino and hotel company on the New York Stock Exchange in 1995, investors lost money, even though “in 1995 when he offered this company, if a monkey had thrown a dart at the stock page, the monkey on average would have made 150 percent”. For example, its Latino population includes large numbers of conservative Cuban Republicans but the fastest growing segment of the population is the Puerto Rican community along the I-4 corridor, and they tend to be Democrats.
Trump continues his knack for grabbing headlines, even during last week’s wall-to-wall coverage of the Democratic convention. “We’re exhausted of lies”, a Trump supporter identified only as Krishna told Xinhua outside the campaign event. “I’m hopeful that Trump really does apologize for some things for something that has been -I believe- crossing the line”. The boundaries have since been redrawn to make the district less blue.
Bruce Newman, a marketing prof at DePaul University and author of The Marketing of the President, says strong surrogates can be “worth a couple percentage points” in a close race.
“We live in a very special place”, Buffett said. And Clinton upheld teachers’ work in the face of Trump’s assertion that “I alone can fix it” (referring to the myriad problems he said the country has). “You used him as a political pawn to go after a candidate whom you’ve never met”.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton extended her lead over Republican rival Donald Trump to eight percentage points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday, from six points on Friday. “It was different from any Republican rally or function I had ever attended”.
Trump has been sharply criticized for his proposal to build a wall across the country’s border with Mexico.
He clarified that his father was “a great patriot” who “doesn’t want to see more Americans dead”.
Requests to Trump’s campaign for additional explanation were not returned.
Not much happening there, except for the proverbial, “I’m not there yet”, which was Paul Ryan’s statement to Jake Tapper months ago, before he got there, as it were, and backed his party’s standard bearer.
During this presser, Clinton should draw the comparison between what a real press conference looks like and what Donald Trump’s press conferences look like (Trump berates reporters and tries to intimidate them, which isn’t exactly the idea behind transparency).
