With Joe Flacco back, Baltimore Ravens ready for turnaround
The combination of optimism, excitement and uncertainty take care of that. “There’s some times when I want to get out there and show those guys a certain technique and show them how to do it – and I do”. He completed 13-of-19 passes for 188 yards in the first half, including a 66-yard touchdown pass to newly acquired speed receiver Mike Wallace. But Buffalo’s defensive unit, led by defensive mastermind and Bills head coach Rex Ryan, tightened up in the second half and limited Flacco to just 70 passing yards through the final third and fourth quarters. Also falling short of expectations were the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bills don’t have much time to think about their losing start to the 2016-17 National Football League season.
For the Ravens, quarterback Joe Flacco, wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. and rush linebacker Terrell Suggs will play in their first regular-season games since season-ending injuries past year.
Now he’s returning to face his first pro team in the season opener.
While the Buffalo Bills are listed as underdogs for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, analyst Matt Sabuda sees an opportunity.
“Everyone in this building is happy for Tyrod”, said Yanda, standing in a hallway at the Under Armour Performance Center after an early afternoon practice Thursday. But I’m excited. This is a new chapter. “And quite honestly, they got after us pretty good”, Ryan said. One team looks to repeat its Super Bowl success of recent years as it gets its star quarterback back, and the other team looks to take step forward in year two of a new regime. Taking a sack there is a very Bills-like thing to do, and that’s never a good thing. “They understand that it’s about winning football and team football around here”. But if not, it’s going to be a little weird, too.
One of the big stories coming into game was whether Joe Flacco was going to be healthy, and by the end of the first half, there were no questions left.
That’s why you play the game. I now direct you to the comments section! I owe him (and the rest of the staff) a lot for picking up the extra slack when I got sick this past year. “But I truly believe Ed’s going to be a guy that within a five-year period, he may be one of those guys that becomes a head coach, because he has that in him”.
All and all, yes, I believe the Buffalo Bills will earn a wild card berth and from there. He took no shots deep, which might have been by design.but I can’t imagine that the team would have stayed that far away from its strengths.
Baltimore kept quarterback Tyrod Taylor from getting comfortable in the pocket.
“It’s not about me”, he said.
Editor’s Note: We put all local scores reported to us in the Local Roundup. “But you can’t just go off of personal experience … you’ve got to watch them and find tendencies and see the philosophies”.
And, according to Flacco, that’s a Taylor strength along with his leadership skills.
