With Kerr back, National Basketball Association reviewing who will coach West All-Stars

He coached Friday’s game seated alongside Luke Walton, who had replaced Kerr for the first 43 games of the season and earned Western Conference Coach of the Month honors for October/November.

Curry posted his second triple-double of the season with 39 points (11-of-19 FG, 8-of-15 3FG), 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in the Warriors’ eventual 122-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Per NBA rules, the All-Star coaches are taken from the teams with the conferences’ best records as of January 31, and the Warriors lead the Spurs by two games atop the West. Even though the Warriors’ season has reached historic levels, San Antonio is just two games behind them in the West.

Coincidentally, Kerr was part of some of those Bulls teams that featured greats like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, and can help bring the experience of the media surrounding those teams to his squad.

Myles Turner topped IN (23-20) with a career-best 29 points while Monta Ellis added 18 against his former team.

Kerr has been at team practices for several weeks and on the last several trips, but he’s the Warriors coach, he won a championship with them last season, and a coach needs to coach.

“I thought we played a good basketball game”, Vogel assessed.

But if Kerr was going to pinpoint a time when it would’ve been best for him to come back – and before there were serious questions about him ever coming back – it would’ve been just about right now. Told me to keep up the hard work.

“He’s just trying to get his stamina and endurance and wherewithal back”, Curry said.

Kerr became a little emotional when he talked about the support his wife, Margot, the Warriors’ coaching staff and general manager Bob Myers provided him during his recovery. “The symptoms that I’ve had have been more headaches and things like that”.

Curry’s eighth 3-pointer of the game provided the crowning blow after the Pacers had gotten as close as six in the fourth period. He played in 55 games for the Rockets last season.

“It’s a huge honor and something I’m very appreciative of, because it’s 100 percent because of (the fans)”, Curry said.
