With NFL career on hold, Manziel re-enrolls at Texas A&M
Manziel had played two years for the Texas A&M Aggies, sitting out the 2011 season as a redshirt, but making an immediate impact in the 2012 season, when he became the first freshman in the history of the Heisman Trophy to win the award.
Going back to school and getting a degree would be a positive step for his future as well.
USA Today reports that Manziel is a recreation, parks, and tourism science major with more than 90 hours of completed coursework under his belt.
But that’s precisely where Manziel is hanging out these days, because, according to The Dallas Morning News, he is back on campus at Texas A&M and taking classes.
He remains a free agent after being released and still faces a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has shown a lot of interest in him in the past, but even he has balked on signing him despite an injury to Tony Romo.
As #Johnny Manziel is only 23-years-old, it’s too early to call his #NFL career dead and buried.
Manziel dropped out of the university after Fall 2013 to train for the 2014 NFL Draft.
Manziel was cut by the Browns in March after two disastrous seasons. Perhaps finishing his degree will help put him in the right mindset to pursue his dreams again.
Now he’s back at school and hopefully successfully avoiding the Texas A&M party scene.
