With temperatures unchanged, freezing rain is here to stay in western Massachuestts
As we wrote earlier this morning a “Winter Weather Advisory” remains in effect for the entire state of CT beginning tonight and ending sometime on Tuesday depending on your location.
“We do have a potential for a little bit more rain on Wednesday, but it will be mild enough that we don’t have to worry about snow or freezing rain”, LeSeney said.
Drivers can expect messy driving Monday night and Tuesday morning as sleet and rain are forecast to pelt the Lower Hudson Valley. The storm is to include snow, freezing rain, sleet and rain. Any snow or ice would result in slippery conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks.
Western Mass News Meteorologist Dan Brown said Tuesday that an accumulation of ice could bring down some tree branches and power lines.
Areas well north and west of Duluth may see only a dusting of snow.
In northern Minnesota, the Duluth area is expected to get 1-3 inches of snow. It wraps up at 7 p.m. Tuesday for all three counties.
As temperatures begin to warm up above the freezing mark throughout the later part of the morning and early part of the afternoon, the freezing rain will begin to change over to plain rain by the afternoon, possible pockets of freezing drizzle.
The highs for the month were 10-12 degrees more than normal. Thursday temperatures should climb to the upper 40s before dipping to a low around 34 that night, according to the National Weather Service.
The south and eastern areas will have the highest totals, Bill Borghoff, National Weather Service senior forecaster, said at the news conference.
