Without Alexis, Chile begins training for matches with Colombia and Uruguay
While many will focus on the other game the Chile and Colombia tie could be one of the best games of the week. With Bacca the Milan star leading the line and Rodriguez in behind this is a Colombia team who will be a threat to anyone on their day.
Chile and Colombia have played 36 times before – twelve times in World Cup Qualifiers, twelve times in Copa America, and remaining twelve times in friendly encounters.
As for their visitors, Jose Pekerman’s men won their opener against Peru, 2-0, but succumbed to powerhouse Uruguay in their second game of the competitions, 0-3, at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo – Tabarez’s side crushed Los Cafeteros with goals from Diego Godin, Rolan, and Abel Hernandez, while Ivan Cuadrado also recieved a red card meaning he will be suspended against Chile.
Ecuador will now aim to secure a fourth consecutive victory when they travel to Venezuela next Tuesday.
Venezuela, who lost their opening two matches last month, suffered a third defeat earlier Thursday when they slumped to a 4-2 defeat to Bolivia in La Paz.
Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli says he will take care to ensure that he does not overwork Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
“From what I saw Alexis looked very well, in an incredible moment”.
Tune in to watch Chile vs. Colombia live stream to see if Chile will continue its 10-match winning streak. Sampaoli expects Vargas to join Sanchez on the attack against Colombia on Thursday and be able to act “normally”.
The 24-year-old played 90 minutes for his country and cancelled out Arturo Vidal’s opener as they drew 1-1 in Santiago, despite Benitez’s claims he was not fit enough to play a full game for Real Madrid.
