Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ hits the billion-view mark on YouTube
The song was co-written by Wiz, Puth, DJ Frank E and Andrew Cedar and was featured as a tribute to Walker in the Furious 7 movie after he was killed in a vehicle accident last November. The music video, directed by Marc Klansfeld, is the 10th to reach a billion. The duo’s scenes are interspersed with footage from Furious 7.
Also in the Billion View Club are Justin Bieber’s “Baby”, Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando”, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”, Katy Perry’s “Roar” and “Dark Horse”, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off” and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk”. “Thank u”, Puth tweeted yesterday. It also earned the most streams in week with 21.9 million listens. It had debuted at number 100.
According to Mashable, this is not the first time the song has broken records. “Charlie’s vocals are wonderful, so it all came together and made sense”.
Wiz Khalifa’s video for “See You Again” has been viewed again… and again and again. That speed is eclipsed only by “Gangnam Style”, which went from zero to one billion in just five months.
